One of our biggest events this year will be a celebration of our 150th Anniversary. It will be on the weekend of the 25th-26th February, and include a champagne reception, debate, gala dinner, ceilidh, and an exhibition of society history.

The public debate will showcase the longstanding tradition of debate at Glasgow University by having some of the best past and current debaters meet each other across the table. The debate will truly capture the mood of the evening; the collaboration of old and new within the Dialectic Society.

The dinner and ceilidh aim to further bring together the alumni and current students as well as sparking memories of Dialectic events past with the toasts to the society. The exhibition includes our collection of archive material documenting the history of the Society. It is the first of it's kind and presents some of the oldest documents at Glasgow University.

The Dialectic Society's tradition and past is being honoured at this event as we feel that 150 years of promoting debate and discussion on campus, and helping mould some of this country's finest speakers is certainly something to be proud of.
