| This will take place on Thursday 18 December in the QMU at 12 noon.
The motion is typically festive: This House believes that religion has no place in a modern Christmas.
Would be great to have as many people there as possible.
There will of course be festive treats for all who attend.

| This week's Lunchtime Doughnut Debate will take place, as ever, on Thursday at 2pm in the GUU Bridie Library.
The motion is: This House would legalise euthinasia
Turn up and speak - it is an informal and easy opportunity to start debating.
Doughnuts are provided for all attending.

| The Dialectic Society New Members Dinner will be held on Saturday 25th October 2008 at 7pm in the Bridie Library, Glasgow University Union. It is a great opportunity for everyone to meet one and all, especially for Freshers to meet the older members.
Our speaker will be G. Rhydian Morgan, of GRM Communication, a public speaking consultancy based in Birmingham. Rhydian is one of Europe's leading debating coaches and judges, and has a story or two to tell from his travels.
The evening includes a pre-dinner reception, three course meal, wine, port and after dinner drinks.
Tickets have now sold out.

| The First Parliamentary Debate of the 2008-09 session takes place this Friday, 10th October 2008. The Debate will begin at 3.30pm. Tea and Coffee will be served in the Reading Room of the GUU from 3pm.
The Bill is as below:-
The World Almighty Distributist League, recognising that the only role of the state is that of objective arbiter of liberty and justice, will;-
1. Enforce mandatory minimum sentences 2. Deregulate the energy industry 3. Abolish corporaton tax
The Distributist Club are in Government, joined on the Government side by the Tory Club and the Whig Club.
The SNA are in Offical Opposition, joined in Opposition by the IndSoc Club.
There will, as ever, be a dinner break between the Afternoon and Evening Sessions. Dinner costs £10. If anyone has any special dietary requirements, please communicate them to me (by email) in advance.
Upon the conclusion of the Debate, there will be a Post-Debate-Party, with FREE drink in the Bridie Library of the GUU.
Spectators are most welcome.
